esl blooming

been two months. life is very busy. still have esl twice on Mondays, sometimes 3 or 4 times a week at rockford academy and now every friday at a mexican restaurant. the food is good there. i have 4 students there. they work there and vary from no english to fluent. a challenge. found out one good speaker does not know the alphabet. another did not get to go to high school in Mexico, another speaks very little. the one young lady finished high school in Janesville. she has been here 6 years. the guys only 2 months.
i went to moody bible institute last weekend for an esl training session. it was great. learned alot. now have a training session coming up May 7-9 at first baptist. i am hoping for 5 teachers, maybe more. hoping and praying about helping in palatine and belevidere.
one of my karen ladies moved to Texas. when the government gives them permission to move they have to go quickly. there was no time for good byes. saw her on monday she moved on saturday. her husband found work there. i did get to get her glasses. she has nerve damage in one eye so at least she has those in texas with her.
took 2 more of the karen to get eye exams. one is mostly same as most of us who wear glasses. but her son wow!! his left eye is 4.75. he had failed the driving test! wonder why! now his esl driving teaching says his driving is much much better, although he still wants to drive too fast.
we have now 3 ladies from gutalmala. one had to return because her father wanted her to come back.
now the kids. beth went to kazakhstan to do some research but is back at Cambridge. emily and zoey are great. edwin does praticitum 3 in may and student teaches this fall. ethan is trying to get a study abroad in Japan this summer. Alphia will be home schooled from now on until who knows when. Anya will return to rockford academy, if she doesn't get into any more fights at school. she continues to drive us crazy. we just don't know what else to do for her. she's violent, then she cries and cries. we have tried meds but so far none really help. last night all i could do was turn on christian music full blast in the house and then she calmed down. i won't describe the incident, it was terrible. we had taken her off one med because we thought that might be making the violence worse. then we were left with the one. it helps but yet she still will totally melt down when she doesn't get her way. i am thinking boot camp may be in her future. alphia's meds continue to control her violence. of course, there is no pill for learning delays and disabililties.
edwin says anya is like the kids he taught at a behavioral charter school in elgin. we are getting a couple of charter schools but not for behavior. just keep praying.

oh, yeah, my nephew is getting married in sept. in florida. great time for a family vacation. we all are planning on driving down and staying for a week. it will be a great time for family and getting away.
